All Saints' Church serves the Parish of Belhus Park, which covers the area of South Ockendon West of the Fenchurch St. Railway Line. The Church was built as a Church Of England place of Worship in 1953 for the families coming to the newly built GLC Belhus Park housing estate which surrounds it. “We are committed to Safeguarding Children, Young People, Victims/perpetrators of Domestic Abuse and Vulnerable Adults. The PCC has adopted the Church of England’s policies and best practice on safeguarding which may be found on the Church of England’s website. https://www.churchofengland.org/more/safeguarding Our Parish Safeguarding Officer is Chris Langan, who may be contacted at church." Initially the Church was a sister Church to St. Michael's Parish Church Aveley in which parish All Saints' was built. It was beautifully designed as a multi-purpose building serving both as a place of Worship and a Community Hall. As the population of the estate grew, All Saints' became a separate parish in 1958 and in time a Church Hall was added to the complex, allowing the original building to be used just as a place of Worship with the Tower being added at it's consecration in 1970. The 1950's architecture and design gives the Church an open, light, clean and modern feel which regular worshippers and visitors alike enjoy. In 2013 All Saints' joined St. Nicholas South Ockendon, St. Michael's Aveley and St. Stephen's Purfleet to form The Mardyke Team Ministry with Rev. Tara Frankland as it's Team Rector. All Saints' Church continues to be the home of a happy friendly worshipping community often going back through 3 or 4 family generations where the congregation and building are at the heart of the parish they serve. The people of All Saints' would like to invite you to be part of our worship on Sunday and Thursday Mornings and welcome inquiries regarding weddings and baptisms or even hire of the hall. |
